#JusticeForJisha: who are the culprits behind the brutal rape that shocked Kerala?
On May 2, Kerala was jolted as the horrendous details of the brutal rape and murder of a 30-year-old dalit woman in Perumbavoor in Ernakulam emerged.
The scary incident has once again revived the ghastly memories of December 16, 2012, when a young physiotherapy intern was gang-raped in a moving bus in the national capital.
Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with the rape and brutal murder of a 30-year-old Dalit woman which sparked protest marches by students and rights activists across Kerala condemning the incident. The incident was widely discussed online as well throughout the day.
One among the prime suspects is a neighbour, who has been taken into custody. The rape that shook the state got a political colour in the poll- bound state with opposition accusing the Congress-led government of failing to arrest the accused nearly one week after the incident. Jisha, 27, a LLB student, was found brutally murdered at her one-room house near Kuruppampady in Ernakulam district around 8.30 pm on April 28. The murder reportedly took place between 2 and 5 pm. Jisha's mother Rajeshwari had gone to work at that time. The brutal murder drew immediate comparisons with the case with that of Jyoti Singh "Nirbhaya" who was gang-raped and brutalised on December 16, 2012 in a moving bus in Delhi.
Police said that Jisha's body was badly mutilated and intestines were found ripped out. The body bore over 13 stabs, including on head and private parts.
"Our inquiry revealed 13 stabs —nearly four stabs and several cut wounds, but the postmortem report will certainly reveal more injuries," circle inspector Rajesh KN told Mirror.
Kochi range inspector general (IG) of police Mahipal Yadav who is overlooking the probe told Mirror that they have got some clues. He said the police will be getting the postmortem report on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Forensic experts suspect that the injuries were inflicted after she died. The bestiality behind the murder was alleged hushed up by the Kuruppampady police. However, the issue came to light on Monday through social media which got wind of the barbarism after Jisha's post-mortem report allegedly leaked to a section of the media.
So here it is, how our government is working & how the system is doing his job.
