Balraj Madhok, former Jana Sangh president, passes away at 96.
Balraj Madhok, founder leader of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh who was later sacked from the party, died here on Monday, his associates said. He was 96.
Madhok, who had been ill for some days, died around 9am at his residence in New Rajendra Nagar in central Delhi, a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh spokesman told IANS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Madhok "was selflessly devoted to the nation and society" and "his ideological commitment was strong and clarity of thought immense". BJP leader LK Advani, who as the then Jana Sangh president sacked Madhok in 1973, said: "I am deeply grieved to learn about the passing away of Balraj Madhok.
