Microsoft's Digital Assistant, Cortana, Is Now on Android, iOS;

Image
Android and iOS users can now add a little bit more Microsoft to their devices, as the company said its digital personal assistant, Cortana, will be available for download later today. The application, which has been in closed beta for months, will allow users to accomplish many of the things that Google Now or Siri do. One of the key differences, however, is that Cortana will be highly connected with other Windows 10 devices. Information on a user's other Windows devices, like weather or travel, will reflect across that person's other Windows devices, the company said. Cortana users will be able to do other things, too, like track packages or flight information. The application can also alert a user's tablet or PC if they've missed a call, Microsoft said. Additionally, Cortana will also be connected to Cyanogen, an open source firmware that is based on the Android operating system. That means Android users can say "Hey Cortana" and then issue

I am disappointed. Disappointed that our revenue performance was not what we could have delivered, but even more so, that this overshadowed the many strong strides we made on executing our stra

Steve Jobs’ biography changed my idea of business Says Shah Rukh Khan

Image
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction, says the biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs changed his ideas about business. The 50-year-old actor says the book made him realise that people should focus only on one thing at a time and that idea changed the direction of his own company, Red Chillies Entertainment. "At Red Chillies Entertainment, I was involved in multiple businesses. But after reading the book (on Steve Jobs), I realised that focusing only on one thing will help," SRK said. "So, we stopped TV and ad production and focused entirely on films and visual effects," the actor said while interacting on #fame, a live entertainment application. Shah Rukh, however, does not completely agree with all the rules given in the book. The 'Dilwale' star revealed that another author Malcolm Gladwell's book "Blink" is about doing business. "The book explains that in a competition, the gu

The world knows  Sunny Leone  as a former adult entertainer, a recent  Bollywood  import and the recipient of the 'most searched star on the internet in India' for four years in a row, but that's not how the 35-year-old wants to be remembered.  Having launched her recent perfume line 'Lust,' in  Dubai  barely a week back, the actress is keen to establish herself as an entrepreneur, as well.  Her aim is to create a brand by tapping into various categories.  At the moment, Leone's recent line of investments includes a franchise for a box league cricket, web-based short stories, and an online game apart from fragrances. She is also keen to enter categories such as shoes, accessories, jewellery and apparels with her own line of products.  Apart from focusing on  Bollywood , the actress who was always interested in business from a young age is keen to expand her brand profile in India. In fact, the star remembers how as a child she would put up lemonade stands

India's home-grown institutes may be known world over for the high quality education they provide, however, there's still a wide gap the current education set-up in the country is not fulfilling, and that is to make every Indian student job ready. Despite students graduating from some of the best universities, Corporates today feel candidates who come to them are lacking what the industry wants.  An Aspiring Minds-Business Insider joint survey  earlier this year found out that companies feel there is huge void in what students have been taught in universities and what is expected from them on-the-job. The survey also noted that talent crisis is not particularly a situation that plagues India, but exists worldwide. 61 per cent companies that run businesses in other parts of the world said the problem of finding the right talent for their organizations exists across markets. It's a challenge employers are facing globally today.  However, it's also true that this gap ha

Image
On July 8,  Mohit Goel  , CEO and founder of  Ringing Bells  , the makers of what is being touted as the  world's cheapest smartphone  personally hand-delivered the first model of  Freedom 251  to a surprised  Ankita Birla , a 27-year-old vendor co-ordinator from  Noida  .  Birla had to pay Rs 291 for the smartphone, of which Rs 40 includes a delivery charge levied by the company. Like the countless others who had placed an order for the smartphone, she too was skeptical about the phone ultimately reaching her.  "I never thought the company would deliver," she admitted, echoing the thoughts of the entire  Indian smartphone market  . Her suspicions were only reinforced by all the controversies the company was mired in- from being accused of being a fraud and defaulting on vendor payments to relabeling an existing brand and demanding Rs 50,000 crore from the Indian government  to continue its production.  Twenty-nine-year-old Goel, on the other hand is unperturbed and
