Residence: Tina Dabi and her family lives in in BSNL Colony on Kali Bari Marg near Gole Market in the heart of New Delhi.
A moment of surprise: With exclusive interview with India Express, she uttered :- “I was sleeping when the results came. I knew they would be out today but there’s usually no particular time. When my phone started buzzing repeatedly, I realised the results had been announced. Since then we have been so busy that I still haven’t had time to actually register what has happened”.
Who forced Tina to nail the Civil Services Exam: In an interview, she accepted that her parents only made her realize the importance of being a civil servant. Seeing all the requisite qualities of a bureaucrat in her, her parents motivated her to prepare for IAS exam when she was in school only. She had opted forhumanities in her plus two, CBSE board.
Her family background: Her mother’s name is Himali Dabi. She is trained as engineer. Her father Jaswant Dabi is working in Department of Telecom.
Why she opted for Haryana Cadre? She answered very simply. She says the state Haryana is always known from its patriarchal mindset and the gender inequality. It has always disturbed me. I belong to a modern and progressive family so there is no space for gender inequality at least in my life. I want to change the orthodox tag from the state Haryana and I would feel great if I make any positive changes in the state.
What is your secret of success? She uttered a single word : “Patience”. Patience is the key of my success. She added sometimes the time comes when you feel lonely and depressed because this is such a difficult exam and a long process. Other parts of your life become almost non-existent, so patience I think is also key.”
Who is her role model? Her mother. Tina gives all the credit for her results to her mother who is honest, humble and down to earth.
Tina Dabi is a typical Delhite girl. She loves shopping all the time, chatting on facebook, twitter etc. She loves pani puri and all stuffs that a simple and sober girl loves.  She says:–
“Study all the time is quite a boring thing. I read novels a lot, specially of Jane Austen. Always keep yourself updated with issues happening around you. I am a news maniac ..won’t ask you to become one but start loving and following news..i am sure you will start enjoying it as well.”
When she was asked how you prepared for your optional subject (mains), she answered simply:—
For my optional subject Political Science, I emphasized on making my concepts very clear and re-read the textbooks. If you study one subject and shift to another, you will not feel bored. I read all of these books, different books cater to different portions of the syllabus so I have just enumerated them.
Tina Dabi started her preparation when she was in 11th standard. Her mom told that you should go for humanity instead of science. Her grooming started in Class 11th and she took arts. She was also the topper of CBSE and Graduation Topper of Lady Shri Ram College , Delhi. She added there was no specific strategy she adopted for prelims and mains. For prelims, though she arts student, she focused more on Paper 2nd (CSAT). She didn’t join any mock classes, she practiced at home. She told NDTV  “It is indeed a proud moment for me,”.
