This $99 device can turn your smartphone into a full-fledged laptop ;

For years, consumer tech companies have dreamed of convergence - that is, the idea of one device being the nexus of all your computing needs. Basically, they've tried really hard to have you buy a smartphone (the computer you carry in your pocket) that can also be your laptop (the computer you use at home). Microsoft has been the most visible proponent of this idea in recent months; its  Continuum feature  allows Windows Phones to run a lightweight version of Windows 10 when plugged into a display dock. The problem, in a nutshell, is that  nobody buys Windows Phones. Before Microsoft, there was Ubuntu. It's long struggled to gain traction with similar promises, dating all the way back to its  failed Edge project  in 2013. Before  that , there was Motorola. Its  Atrix phone worked the same way, but its laptop dock cost  $500 ,  the software you used with it was half-baked, and the phone was only "strong" by 2011's standards. Again, few people cared.

Popular dating app Tinder has decided that it will not allow users below 18 years of age to use its service from next week. Tinder's VP of communications Rosette Pambakian gave an official statement that read, "On a platform that has facilitated over 11 billion connections, we have the responsibility of constantly assessing our different user experiences. Consistent with this responsibility, we have decided to discontinue service for users below 18 years of age. We believe this is the best policy moving forward. This change will take effect next week."  Launched in 2012, Tinder earlier had the minimum age limit of 13 years to use the app, but Pambakian has now said that the company believed that changing the minimum age from 13 to 18 was the 'right thing to do'.  Tinder is also trying to revamp the general perception that it has, that of a casual dating or hook-up app, and is aggressively promoting stories of Tinder matches that have led to marriages on va

Brazil is blacking out WhatsApp for 72 hours, thanks to an encryption battle.

Bad News for Brazil,  A Brazilian judge ordered wireless phone carriers to block access to Facebook Inc's WhatsApp for 72 hours throughout Latin America's largest country starting Monday afternoon, the second such incident against the popular messaging application in five months. Judge Marcel Montalvao issued the order because the app’s parent company, Facebook, refuses to give information to the government regarding a criminal investigation. This is not the first time WhatsApp has been in hot water in Brazil. In December it was ordered to be blocked for two days over another similar case, but access was restored after just 12 hours. At the time, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said it was “a sad day for Brazil.” The free app is very popular in Brazil and is estimated to be installed in over 90 percent of cell phones there. That translates to roughly 100 million phones. According to Bloomberg News , neither Facebook nor WhatsApp has commented on the case. Sources
