1. He holds an undergraduate degree from St. Stephens College, Delhi and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad.
2. Taught at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government from 1999 to 2000 and at Johns Hopkins' School for Advanced International Studies from 2008 to 2010.

3. Served as Assistant Director in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund.

4. He once said in an essay that “strong leaders, who will deliver good governance and reforms, like Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi” were part of the reason to maintain faith in India’s economic possibilities.

5. He is a Dennis Weatherstone Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute of International Economics and a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Development, US.

6. He criticized the Modi government's stand on the WTO deal and suggested that India should withdraw its opposition to the Trade Facilitation Agreement, reformulate its position on agriculture, proceed to persuade its partners of the merits and fairness of its new position over the next few months, and revisit this issue at the WTO in the near future.

7. He believes that by 2030, "China will account for close to 20 percent of the global GDP (measured half in dollars and half in terms of real purchasing power), compared with just under 15 percent of the United States.”

8. Authored "Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China's Economic Dominance", published in September 2011. He also gave a talk on how China's ascent to the top has already started and imagines a reality that China will rule the world.

9. He believes that for the Indian economy, "the two big things are macro-economic stability and creating conditions for rapid investment and growth.
