The very sorrowful episode of India due to regionalism !

Graham Staines, an Australian Christian missionary, had been living in Odisha since 1965. His entire family - His wife, daughter and two sons lived in India with him . They established the Mayurbhanj Leprosy Home to cure the lepers in the remote tribal area.

On the night of 22nd January 1999, Graham and his sons were sleeping inside their wagon in the jungles of Manoharpur. Their wagon was set on fire, while they were fast asleep and were burnt alive. This included Graham's sons aged 10 and 6.When one of them tried to escape, the armed mob prevented him from doing so.
Reason - They were alleged to have forcefully converted Hindus to Christianity.
His wife Gladys and his daughter were in a different city when this happened.
Gladys, stayed back in India with her daughter even after this incident and continued the service. She was awarded Padma Shri and Mother Teresa Memorial award for her service.
