Why The West Indies Tour is Extremely Important For Anil Kumble !

Image
Soon after he was named India's head coach, Anil Kumble gracefully accepted his appointment and charted out his road-map for the future. "I thought it was the right time to give back to Indian cricket. I have always put my hand up for challenges," the former Indian Test skipper said. Kumble, who is the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests and ODIs, will start with the four-Test tour to West Indies, a place where he has enjoyed some wonderful performances in the past. His match-winning spell of 6/78 in Jamaica in 2006 gave India their first series win in the Caribbean after 35 years but the sight of him bowling tirelessly with a bandaged jaw in 2002 was a symbol of his dedication and team-spirit. After a decade, Kumble finds himself in a different capacity. Indian fans will expect him to instill spirit and energy into the team that is undergoing a transition. This series can apparently be a warm-up for the gruelling cricket season at home. In India, the

Do You Know Why These Bars or Pipes Used?

Image
You’ve Seen These Bars Everywhere, But Did You Know That They Serve An Important Purpose? I used to think it's kind of speed breaker..but to my amazement it isn't one? But the NO, These bars are called cattle grids or cattle guards, and are meant to prevent livestock and other animals from entering the premises. The space between the rounded bars is narrow enough for people and vehicles to pass, but wide enough to act as a hurdle when cows, goats and sheep try to walk on them, as their narrow legs would be caught between the gaps. Quite interesting...isn't it??

Do You Know These facts on the Universe!

Saturn would float if you would put it in water. If you would place a pinhead sized piece of the Sun's core on the Earth you would die from standing within 145 km (90 miles) from it. Only 5% of the universe is made up of normal matter, 25% is dark matter and 70% is dark energy. The Sun is 400 times larger than the Moon but is 400 times further away from Earth making them appear the same size. Venus does not have any seasons at all. 1 year on Mercury consists of less than 2 days on Mercury. Helium turns into a solid at 0.95K at 25 atmospheres. The coldest place on Earth is in Wolfgang Ketterles laboratory in Massachusetts. But still they coudn't attain an absolute zero. The pistol star is the most luminous star known 10 million times the brightness of the Sun. All the planets are the same age: 4.544 billion years. 8000 stars are visible with naked eye from Earth. 4000 in each hemisphere, 2000 at daylight and 2000 at night. 90-99% of all normal matter in the unive

He is still unheard and unknown of in the mainstream media. He was so instrumental that simply put it GOOGLE WOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED TODAY BUT FOR HIM. Ram Sriraman So when Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford, they were just young twenty year olds with an idea of a search engine. They explained this idea to their professor who helped them meet some investors. A majority of them were not-so-impressed by this. Then, they stumbled upon this investor called Ram Shriram who also found it OK. But, he was impressed by their passion so without thinking much he handed them a cheque of 500,000 dollars. Can you imagine the duo didn't even have a bank account at that time to deposit that cheque? And

Do You Have Card Protection Plan? You Should Have One.

Image
It is human nature to stuff all the cards - be it be debit or credit cards, driving license or PAN - in a wallet which one carries around. And when such a wallet is found to be lost, it's the procedural call that needs to be followed which proves to be a bigger nightmare. However, the turnout wouldn't be so bad if one has subscribed to the card protection plans (CPP) offered by banks. What is CPP? Simply put, it is a comprehensive card protection service in case of any loss, theft, fraud and other related emergencies. Apart from credit and debit cards, banks have extended this service to safeguard the details of other important documents like PAN card, Aadhar card and several others essential documents. In short, this service is designed to come in handy in times of a crisis situation. Other than this, there are several other services provided to those who signup for this offering. However, all these plans come for a limited period of one year. Thereafter, it needs to

What is it that we as Indians are collectively doing wrong with their AC ?

Image
This is what we all are doing  wrong . Majority of the people think that setting the temperature at  16 degrees  will make the room cool down quickly, but it does not work like that. You see, the compressor will work exactly the same amount whether the temperature is set up at 23 or 16 degrees. The purpose of setting temperature on the A.C is that, when the room temperature will reach the level of temperature set up by you on the thermostat then the  compressor will   turn off without turning off the A.C fan . Then again when the temperature will rise above your desired temperature the compressor will turn on.  This saves a lot of Energy, as well as your electricity bill. The temperature at which the human body is most comfortable is  23.5 degrees centigrade , so the A.C thermostat should be fixed either at  24 or 23 degrees . This will not only prevent your room from getting too cold but will also  save a lot of energy . As some people pointed out that few newer AC
